- Monitoring system performance and identifying problems that arise.
- Responding in a timely manner to user-reported errors
- Protecting the database against threats or unauthorized access
- Reporting on metrics regarding usage and performance
- Suggesting changes and improvements for database configuration, maintenance or protection
- Building database systems of high availability
- Regularly liaising with IT project managers and database programmers.
- Installing database and apply new patches and versions when require
Qualifications:
- Proven working experience as a Database Administrator
- Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications
- Excellent knowledge of performance tuning, data backup, recovery, replication, security, integrity and SQL
- Familiarity with database design, documentation and coding
- Previous experience with database monitoring tools
- Understanding of high-availability solutions and architecture
- Problem solving skills and ability to think algorithmically
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Degree in a computer discipline or relevant certification
- Familiar with Windows and Linux/Unix Operating System
- Up-to-date with trends and developments in database administration.
